Michael Galeski has owned this HT Monaro for over ten years, but he spent five of those turning it into this very desirable Tuff Street creation

“I got the car ten years ago running with a 350 in it” starts Michael Galeski, owner of this award-winning 1969 HT Monaro GTS. “I enjoyed driving the car on the streets for a few years then took it off the road for a full ground-up rebuild which took me five years”

Just looking at it you can easily see where those years went. There is a staggering amount of effort put into it for a vehicle whose main purpose remains the same as it always has been - to be driven – but at Summernats in 2013 it was recognised for that effort placing 2nd overall in Tuff Street

“I wanted to build a tough street car that you can drive and not be working on the car all the time. It just needs fuel – 98RON pump – and an oil change every now and then. It’s so reliable. A custom 4-core radiator keeps it cool. It’s an excellent engine combo from APM (Advance Performance Machining) that runs like a dream”

There’s plenty more to like about this car as well, such as the supercharged 383ci Chev Small Block V8 in front of a Turbo 400 3-speed, Air Ride airbags in the front and rear suspension, big Wilwood brakes, big Twisted Vista II wheels and a reupholstered black vinyl GTS interior with a dash full of Auto Meter gauges
