With official proceedings getting underway tomorrow for the Brisbane Jamboree, Willowbank Raceway is absolutely packed, with the country’s best Sports Compact drag racers taking advantage of every second of testing time made available to them.

Ben Bray’s new Pro Compact rig is one that many are excited to see run this weekend, with the SR-powered weapon sure to run some serious times.

Having had very little seat time in his new setup, Ben has been constantly improving and considering it has run a 7.8@131mph with a big back off, it’s certainly got a lot more in it.

Andy from Spot On Performance was also keen to get some time behind the wheel, testing out a new engine combo that should see him well into the 9s.

David Medwin was out testing for the first time as well, representing the Rotary Motorsport camp and running a 9.6@140mph.

Luke from Yatala Headworx started to get into the groove of his KE30 Corolla, running multiple mid 9-second passes.

Craig and Glen Melbourne were shaking down their recently finished RX3, a gorgeously presented drag car if we’ve ever seen one!

There will be a lot of eyes on Mark Jacobsen and the Godzilla Motorsport R35 GT-R this weekend, with Mark sure to turn up the wick and bring out something special.

He certainly had his game face on when we saw him and we can’t wait to see him going all out on the weekend.

Andrew Dyson, brother of Craig, was out there in the R100 for last-minute licensing and considering he ran a 10.3 rolling through the traps at 96mph, we think he’ll be one to look out for.

Mick’s super tough R32 GT-R sure looks the part but unfortunately, ignition issues have held him back so far. Fingers crossed things are fixed for the weekend.

Mick Farrell was also having issues, with the clutch in his RX7 slipping severely. Considering he’s travelled all the way over from Perth, we hope he can get the issue sorted.

Archie was back after his crash and we have to say, the new Mazfix Mazda 6 is looking fantastic!

We weren’t the only ones who thought so though, with Chris Hall one of the many to stop past and have a good geez.

It’s certainly shaping up to be an exciting weekend and the question on everyone’s lips is anyone else be able to join Collin Willshire in the 4-cylinder, 6-second club?

There’s only one way to find out and that’s to go and check out the action for yourself at Willowbank Raceway this weekend. Tickets are available from the Jamboree website or at the gates, opening at 8:30am.
